Good day chaps! I am so pleased that you have brought up the topic of universal lingua francas. I am gobsmacked that none of you have realised that my country has been preparing for this ecstatic event for hundreds of years. Whilst we were out colonising the world, we put in place systems that would, with time, enable our world to unite under the English language. It has proven brilliantly successful in many countries throughout the world. Some have even been able to adapt English to their own cultures and in some cases, have created creoles and pidgins from it.

@esperantorulz You must be one of those individuals that I was writing about in my previous post…

I believe that what you are trying to say is that you believe that our world needs simplified. You believe that diversity is confusing and only leads to more trouble than it is worth. That is where you are wrong! Diversity is what makes us unique, because of it, we have various cultures, religions and identities that make us who we are. A lack of these things would be, to put it nicely, BORING!

As David Crystal has previously stated: “Language has no independent existence apart from the people who use it” and I fully agree with him. Culture goes hand in hand with languages which causes me to ask: can one culture and one language support all of humanity?

@Linguistry303 I must respectfully disagree with you. Creating a world where everyone has the same opportunities and where everyone can communicate with anyone could be extremely beneficial for all of us. As you said “we are all becoming more and more like robots” and I agree with you. But contrary to your opinion, I believe that these similarities should be celebrated and we should all be united no matter race, culture or identity and what better way to do that than to unite us under one common language.

In our current time in age, we are all becoming more and more like robots. We all watch the same programs, listen to the same music and dress in the same clothes, but now certain individuals have the audacity to proclaim that we should all speak the same global language, a lingua franca as they are calling it.

When I was young, people were striving to be different! We tried to stick out from the masses as much as possible. My age must be catching up with me, I suspect that my ideas on our uniqueness must be getting old.
